Reinier van Houdt

Reinier van Houdt (1964)| piano, keyboards and electronics

Throughout his career Reinier has explored unusual repertoires, as a result of a personal musical quest; this has included collaborations with composers, designing concert programs, thorough archives explorations, and an unconventional study of the classics.

He studied piano in Budapest, Hungary and Den Haag, The Netherlands, and has performed premieres of works by Robert Ashley, Alvin Curran, Maria de Alvear, Charlemagne Palestine, Francisco López, Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji, Walter Marchetti, Jerry Hunt, Michael Pisaro, Giacinto Scelsi. He has worked with the composers John Cage, Luc Ferrari, Alvin Lucier, Olivier Messiaen and with the theater companies Hotel Modern and Andcompany&CO. He has also worked with the dance company Leine & Roebana. Reinier is one of the co-founders of music theatre company ZOOGDIER. In 2011 he has developed a collaboration with David Tibet from Current93.

Reinier has played at diverse and adventuresome podia including the Knitting Factory New York, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, DOM in Moskou, Setagaya Gallery Tokyo, Paradiso Amsterdam, San Ildefonso in Mexico City, Apollohuis Eindhoven, de New Library in Alexandrië Egypte, Dacapo in Bremen, Mills College Oakland, Music Gallery Toronto, HAU in Berlin and the Kunstraum Düsseldorf.
