Episode 1: Alison Isadora

Released 6th September 2026.
https://rss.com/podcasts/the-maze-podcast/3128333/

Alison Isadora is an Aotearoa / New Zealand-born artist who has made Amsterdam her home since the late 1980s. She is a “composer/performer/educator/curator/host/producer/guide,” and her pieces treat musicians, audiences, spaces, and even scores as equal partners in creating music together.

Her ongoing Together series, running since 2018, is built on indeterminate scores, community participation and reflects deeper concerns: ecology, decolonial perspectives on Western art music, and what it means to really listen together.

In 2024, Alison created the work Diffractive Readings for MAZE, inspired by the extended hermeneutics practice of Jennifer Lacey, and based on different so-called readings of Wind Horse by Pauline Oliveros.

She was also a member and composer of The Maarten Altena Ensemble that was the ensemble that MAZE grew out of.

Episode 2: Claudio Baroni

Release date 19th September 2026.

Claudio F. Baroni is a composer whose work is characterized by what he calls “a systematic exploration of sound”, with particular attention to timbre, material, and physical properties.

Originally from Rosario, Argentina, he has lived in Amsterdam most of his working life, where he has received commissions and performances from numerous ensembles across Europe, including Maze Ensemble, Slagwerkgroep Den Haag (HIIIT), Champ d’Action, Ensemble Integrales, and several Italian quartets.

He has several recordings released on Unsounds and Moving Furniture Records – MOTUM, The Body Imitates the Landscape, Ursae Minoris, and the recent Re-Genetic, all of which we will like to talk about in this interview.

Episode 3: Jasna Veličković

Release date 26th September 2026.

Jasna Veličković is a Belgrade-born Dutch composer and performer based in Amsterdam. Her artistic output has been developed through an interaction between a life-long fascination with the sound, an enduring interest in an intricate encounter between music and technology, and an inclination toward experimentation. Since 2008 she has been exploring the musical capacities of the (electro) magnetic field – induction, interference – both as the source of sound and the compositional material. This preoccupation of hers became an ongoing research artistic project that she dubbed The Art of Coil.

Her new work Charged Room will be premiered on 24th October by MAZE in Splendor.

Episode 4: Dario Calderone

Release date 3rd October 2026.

Dario Calderone is a multidisciplinary artist, composer and musician, born in Rome and currently based in Amsterdam. He has made a significant contribution to the development of the solo double bass repertoire and his work spans composition, sound installation, recording, and community-based practices. He is deeply informed by Deep Listening as a method for artistic research, social engagement, and ecological awareness. In 2025, he co-founded Eco Acoustics, an artist-run platform that fosters listening as a tool to connect human and more-than-human worlds. His ongoing research includes dream yoga, collective dreaming, and listening to dreams as practices for community building and social transformation.

His new work Dreamfield will be performed on 25th October in Splendor.

Episode 5: Anne La Berge

Release date 10th October 2026.

Anne La Berge is a composer, improviser, and flutist who has spent her career pushing at the edges of both written and improvised music, drawing as much from storytelling and sound art as from traditional composition. Her work is rooted in the social and political currents she lives within, music that moves between the poetic and the political. Many of her pieces are built as open, multi-level structures, where performers follow flexible cues and shape the music together in the moment, often via phones, tablets, or laptops that give them genuine real-time agency.

She is part of MAZE, as flutist and composer and for the upcoming festival she has created a new work called Pause Then that will find its MAZE premiere on 25th October.

Episode 6: Yannis Kyriakides

Release date 17th October 2026.

Composer and sound artist Yannis Kyriakides born in Limassol, Cyprus, grew up in England, and has been based in Amsterdam since 1992, where he studied composition with Louis Andriessen and Dick Raaijmakers after graduating in musicology at York. He also holds a PhD from Leiden University for his artistic research entitled Imagined Voices.

As a composer and sound artist, Kyriakides is drawn to the possibilities of creating new hybrids and intersections between media. His artistic practice is not confined to a single tradition or form but instead searches for ways to generate fresh experiences of listening. Central to his work is the exploration of the relationship between music, words and images. In both his concert compositions and installation pieces, he has repeatedly investigated how language can merge with sound: encoding text into sonic systems, synthesizing voices, or projecting text to shape the perception of music. These experiments extend beyond mere accompaniment, opening up new ways of experiencing meaning in sound. In recent years, his curiosity has turned toward interactive and generative scores, where performers and audiences alike engage with music as a live process that evolves in real time.

His installation performance will be part of the upcoming MAZE Festival on both 24th and 25th October in Splendor.
